Editorial policy

Authorship and review

Every article is drafted by the VestedGrant editorial team and reviewed by a named, licensed professional (CPA, tax attorney, CFP, or JD) before publication. The reviewer is listed at the top of each article with their credentials and the date of review. Reviewers are paid for their time. They receive no share of any revenue from the advisor match and have no visibility into which advisors a given article's reader ends up engaging.

Placeholder profiles

Our initial reviewer roster includes placeholder profiles. These are visible on each reviewer page via a yellow banner. We are actively pursuing real contributor partnerships to replace every placeholder before scaled publication. Until that replacement happens, placeholder reviewer profiles should be treated as illustrative, not as active endorsements from named professionals.

Sources

We cite specific IRS code sections (IRC §83, §422, §1202, §409A), current-year brackets, and primary rule changes (SEC 10b5-1 amendments, QSBS conformity rulings) rather than abstracted statements. Where a rule is deterministic ("supplemental withholding is 22%"), we state it as deterministic. Where a rule has material ambiguity ("state conformity varies annually"), we flag the ambiguity.

How the advisor match works

Neither side pays for leads

VestedGrant does not charge readers to be matched, and VestedGrant does not charge advisors for leads. The match is powered by Wellspent, an independent knowledge graph of financial advisors. Wellspent's business model is to charge advisors a flat subscription (currently $89/month) for data-structuring services that help them get surfaced by LLMs and AI assistants. Participation in that subscription is unrelated to whether Wellspent — or VestedGrant reading Wellspent — ranks an advisor higher in any specific match.

How VestedGrant ranks advisors in a match

We query the Wellspent graph for advisors whose practice areas match the reader's situation (RSU tax, ISO AMT, QSBS planning, pre-IPO secondary, etc.), filter to advisors licensed in the reader's state or willing to work across state lines, and rank by relevance signals on the profile: years with equity-comp clients, specific credentials (CFP, CPA, JD-LLM Tax), fee structure (fee-only preferred), and the advisor's own declared case-type coverage. None of these signals are paid-for.

Sponsored content

None. We do not accept sponsored content in editorial copy.

Affiliate links

Limited. Any article recommending a specific financial product (tax software, custodian, loan platform) will disclose the commercial relationship in a visible inline note. We do not allow affiliate compensation to determine which products we mention in primary editorial.

Corrections

Mistakes are corrected promptly at [email protected] with a dated note on the affected article. Substantive corrections (not just typos) include the original and corrected text.

Not advice

Nothing on VestedGrant is tax, legal, or investment advice. Every decision that involves a specific dollar amount or a specific tax year deserves review by a licensed professional who has your actual facts.
